Organisers are reminded that how ever well intentioned they may be it is actually against TLI Cycling Rules and Regulations to accept completed membership forms and membership fees at events to send to the Region Secretary, see Rules of Racing paragraph 8 which makes it clear riders should produce their licence / membership cards at Race Control or be required to pay a Day Membership fee.
The correct procedure is to give potential members a form to complete for sending to the Region Secretary themselves Organisers are not authorised to accept Membership Applications and it is thought that they could put themselves at risk legally in the event of an accident.
My own opinion is that anyone who has been too lazy to get of their backside and get their membership sorted out before the season starts deserves to be made to pay the extra fee, Organisers and officials are all volunteers and have more than enough to do without the extra work involved in dealing with them.
John Bethell : Chairman : TLI Cycling
The Highland Games Cyclists Association has extended an invitation for TLI members to join them and take part in the cycling events at the Games. Day licences cost £3 and registration can be done on the day, big prizes are on offer with £100 firsts fairly regular and other awards going down to 4th - 6th placings per event.
More details and the calendar of Games events are are listed on the "Scotland" page.

Hi all,
After my visit to the last ICF meeting in Achtmaal on Saturday the 26th April , there is now an update on http://www.belgiancyclingselection.be/ including a map of the circuit, parking, accommodation and camp sites in the area.
The removal of the traffic bollards before the race has been approved by the town council. The first 200 meters of the race is neutralized, each race N° is black on a white background with the ICF logo in 4 different colors according to each category, two none returnable plastic jersey numbers plus one frame number. Don't forget to bring safety pins, we are buying some but better to bring your own. The circuit is traffic free but all lapped riders will be pulled out.
This year the racing committee at Achtmaal is celebrating it's 70th anniversary and have asked me to start the races, for which I'm very honored, but I'll only be able to do the first two races as after that I'll be too busy with paying out the prizes.
Regards,
Graham.

Life Member John Mylett finally gave best to his health problems and asked the Annual General Meeting to accept his resignation as Secretary of the Yorkshire, Cleveland and Durham Region. The meeting gave John a vote of thanks for all his hard work over the years and reluctantly accepted his decision.
The old Yorkshire, C & D Region has now been restructured with Rob Blackburn in charge of the new Yorkshire, Midlands and North East Region and Dave Moss adding to his Scottish duties by looking after the new Tyneside, Northumbria & Cumbria Region for at least the 2008 season.
John followed a successful time trialling career by taking up organising first for BC and then for TLI with Chris Knight, he was well known for his "no nonsence" attitude and listed among his jobs that of bouncer at the Irish Heritage Club in Manchester. Local BC officials were not very pleased when he once organised their Division Road Race Champs and used a full complement of TLI judges and officials when none were forthcoming from the BC Division.
He is particularly anxious not to lose touch with all his friends from the League and phone calls to him on 0161 795 6322 will always be welcomed.
